DOG MOUNTAIN FALLS

RATING - 20.0

VR - 2 (Small)               HR - 5                  SR - 10/20

TYPE OF APPROACH - Trail

DIFFICULTY - Fairly Difficult

LOCATION - Taylor River Area

TYPE - Horsetail

HEIGHT - 85'

WIDTH - 15'

This pretty waterfall occurs where a small, possibly seasonal stream, drops about 85' into Marten Creek from the side of Dog Mountain.  There is a good chance that the waterfall is much taller, but any upper tiers cannot be seen.  The waterfall can be seen from the unofficial Marten Lake Trail through the trees, but a short bushwhack down the steep slopes of Marten Creek's canyon will enable slightly clearer views.  Be careful if you attempt to get closer to the falls.  The final drop to Marten Creek would be quite painful.

DIRECTIONS - Follow the directions to Marten Creek Falls.  Just before the creek you should find the Marten Lake Trail heading upstream.  Follow this rough and often obscure trail for about 3/4 of a mile until you see Dog Mountain Falls through the trees.
