INVENTORY FALLS
RATING - 60.0
Inventory Falls is an enormous, complex, multi-tiered, and very difficult to access waterfall located on the East Fork of Index Creek.  The 526' height is most likely shorter than the actual height.  I'm almost positive I missed an upper tier.  In addition there is what looks to be a very nice upper falls a short distance above this one.

Inventory Falls begins with two streams dropping side-by-side.  They combine partway down the falls.  The uppermost tier is 36' tall with plunging drops on both branches.  The creeks then cascade for another 30' before dropping over a 96' tall third tier.  The creeks are now combined and the full force of the creek can be viewed for the final four tiers.  The fourth tier is a beautiful 74' tall cascade that ends in a small pool.  Tier number five may be the best of the bunch, dropping 63' in a 58' plunge followed immediately by a 5' fan (pictured on the left).  The sixth tier looked to be a stunning 60' tall plunge into a beautiful pool created by a log dam.  I only had fleeting, through-the-trees views from my side of the creek but it looked like the south side of the creek would give a clear view.  The onslaught finishes with the tallest individual drop, a 110' horsetail into a rugged canyon full of logs and large, orange-colored rocks.  It's all extremely hard to view and even more difficult to describe, but it's an amazing waterfall if you can get there.  I had horrible lighting on my trip to the falls so I will attempt it again in the future to get some better pictures.

DIRECTIONS - The East Fork of Index Creek joins the main branch just upstream from the convergence of the North Fork and Index Creek proper.  From Portfolio Falls, make your way downstream to the convergence and ford Index Creek.  This is very dangerous when the water level is high.  Once across, bushwhack upstream to the East Fork and follow it uphill for about 1/4 of a mile to the bottom of the falls.  Climb up the steep hillside along the creek to see higher tiers.
