LOWER POTTER FALLS
RATING - 26.0

Lower Potter Falls is a very nice waterfall that, unfortunately, may be located on private property.  When I visited the falls, I came in from the south side and didn't see any signs indicating that we aren't allowed to visit.  However, on the north side of the creek is a road, a nice lawn area, and stepping stones down to the creek behind a house.  I will attempt to find out if this is actually private property or not, but until then it's probably best to leave this one alone and I would definitely discourage anyone from climbing down to the base.  If the owners of that house happen to see this, I would love to drop by for tea sometime. :)

The falls actually consist of two tiers.  The upper tier is a pretty 20' drop into a nice pool of water.  It's possible to get to this drop without interferring with the house near the main drop.  The main drop plunges around 80' and is located just downstream but appears to be on private property.  It looks like the view from the nicely manicured private lawn would be really nice.

DIRECTIONS - Drive along Highway 9 to the tiny town of Van Zandt and then turn west on Potter Road near Everybody's Store.  In a couple miles, the road will go through a signed "Flood Zone".  Just after this turn onto the gated logging road on the right and park.  Walk up the very steep road for a few hundred feet to the second switchback.  Plunge into the woods here and head towards the creek and you should find the falls.  Stay away from the base.
