Marmot Ridge Falls appears to be a very substantial waterfall located in the valley between Grouse and Marmot Ridges. The waterfall appears to have three tiers: A 40ish' tall fan, a 40ish' tall cascade, and then what I believe is a 100+' third tier that starts as a steep horsetail and then ends up as a sheer plunge. I say believe because this entire third tier cannot be seen from the ridge. From up close, this might be one of the Top 25 waterfalls on Mt. Baker. The waterfall can be distantly seen from the top of Grouse Ridge and a close up view is possible as well. I will make the trip in for a close view next year as I was low on time on my first trip into the area. Stay tuned next summer for better pictures and info!! |
DIRECTIONS - From the Mt. Baker Highway, turn onto Glacier Creek Road.
In about seven miles, turn right onto FR 36. After that, take the left
at each fork and follow it to the end. Park and hike the steep Grouse
Ridge Trail to the top of the ridge. The falls can be seen from the
west end of the ridge. It should be possible to get a close up view
with enough effort. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Upper Warm Creek Falls, Warm Creek Falls |
