Stettatle Creek Falls is an absolutely fantastic waterfall that is located in a deep, twisted, narrow-walled canyon. This makes it difficult to get a clear view of the waterfall but it isn't too difficult to get a through-the-trees view. The falls occur where large volume Stettatle Creek (bigger than a lot of rivers I know) splits into three segments and plunges 42' into a stunning azure pool. The creek then turns 90 degrees to the left before continuing its way towards the Skagit River. It may be possible to reach the creek further downstream and then wade/rockhop upstream to a better view of the falls but I can't say for sure. Stettatle Creek is huge and the rocks along the edge of the canyon look to be very slick so if you attempt this be very careful. As an added bonus there is a bonus waterfall that plunges out of the mini-canyon that you follow down to Stettatle Creek. It's even harder to see this waterfall than the main one though. It would be fairly easy to put a spur trail from the main trail down to a viewpoint of this amazing waterfall. A couple trees would need to be cut down to provide a clear view but I'm sure this is a hike than many people would love to visit. |
DIRECTIONS - Follow the directions to Midway Falls.
Continue along the trail for another 1/2 mile or so to the next creek
crossing (it may or may not have water in it but it is obvious because of
the mini-canyon it runs through). Follow the ridge on the south side
of the creek downhill for about 500' to the edge of the canyon. You
should see the falls through the trees but be careful if you look for a
clear view. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Bucket Creek Falls, Camp Deyo Falls, Midway Falls |
