WITCH'S CAULDRON FALLS |
||
RATING - 2/10 TYPE OF APPROACH - Roadside DIFFICULTY - Very Easy LOCATION - Verlot Area TYPE - Cascades HEIGHT - 13' WIDTH - 8' |
The first time we saw this falls, Heather Creek was raging through here. The pool at the bottom of the falls looked like a pot filled with boiling water, hence the name "Witch's Cauldron". This one is also called Upper Heather Creek Falls which I guess makes more sense. This one is pretty when the creek is low, but I really advise checking it out during peak water level to fully appreciate it.
DIRECTIONS - Head out the Mountain Loop Highway past Granite Falls. Just after passing the Verlot Ranger Station, turn left onto FR 42 that heads up to the Mt. Pilchuck Trailhead. Heather Creek is the first major creek that is passed along the way. The falls are to the left and can be seen from the road.
