Box Lunch Falls is located on the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River and is literally feet away from the Westbound lane of I-90 (see the video below). The South Fork plunges about 30' in what appears to be a man-made canyon. It appears as though the cliff was blasted and the river was diverted when I-90 was made. This is just speculation on my part, but the little canyon that the river runs through at this point is clearly not natural. The falls were named by the kayakers who apparently run the falls on occasion. This seems pretty dangerous since Twin Falls is located a short distance downstream. |
DIRECTIONS -
Lunch Box Falls is located just off of I-90 at about Milepost 37 east of
North Bend. The falls can be seen from the shoulder of the freeway,
but only if you are traveling Westbound. Look for a steep rock wall on
the north side of the freeway. Park just west of the bridge over the
South Fork and walk up the grass on the other side of a small fence.
It should be noted that it may technically be illegal to park along this
stretch of the freeway. As long as you don't spend too much time there
you should be alright. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Twin Falls |
