Charity Falls

Hearty Creek begins its life in Heart Lake and proceeds to drop over eleven waterfalls on its way to the South Fork, culminating in Bridal Veil Falls.  As one progresses downstream, the names of the waterfalls follow the pattern from caring about someone as a person to falling more and more in love, eventually ending in marriage at Bridal Veil.  Charity Falls is the second in the series of eight "love" waterfalls along the creek.  Charity is a general love for your fellow man.  The waterfall is probably the least impressive of all the waterfalls on the creek, but it is still very pretty.  The falls begin with a 29' tall fan shaped drop before running over a long series of bedrock cascades.  The waterfall culimates in a 4' tall, 15' wide block of water seen in the foreground of the photo above.  While maybe not super impressive, this waterfall is still worth your effort if you make it all the way to Compassion Falls just downstream.

DIRECTIONS - Follow the directions to Compassion Falls.  Charity Falls is located a few hundred feet upstream but you'll have to climb around Compassion Falls first.  This is most easily accomplished by scrambling up the hill on the right side of the creek.  It's steep but nothing horribly dangerous and if you've made it that far this little hill should be no problem for you.
