Doubtful
Lake is a large, beautiful lake nestled into a cirque on the south side of
Sahale Mountain. Several streams drop down the massive cliffs, filling
the lake. Doubtful Lake Falls occurs on the largest of these streams,
horsetailing down around 500' into the lake. The lake and falls can be
viewed from high above on the Sahale Arm Trail. In addition a trail
leads down to the lake itself and presumably better views of the falls.
I'll let you know for sure whenever I get around to visiting the lake. |

DIRECTIONS - From the end of the Cascade River Road, hike up the
Cascade Pass Trail. In 3.7 miles you will reach the pass. Just
after "the patio" take a left onto the Sahale Arm Trail. The trail
climbs steeply for about 3/4 of a mile and then flattens out. The lake
can be seen below at this point. The Doubtful Lake Trail branches off
at this point as well. |
