UPPER MAY CREEK FALLS |
RATING - 42.0
|
While
Isabel Falls is fairly well known, many don't realize that May Creek
contains several smaller waterfalls further downstream as well. Upper
May Creek Falls is a stunning beauty, surrounded on all sides by moss,
trees, and any other green thing you can think of. The waterfall
consists of two tiers. The upper tiers begins with a wide cascade of
13' in height, followed by a powerful, 22' tall plunge. The creek runs
through a short, flat stretch and then spreads out, dropping another 25' in
a 30' wide wall of water. From the east side of the creek, this lower
drop is a little tricky to get a clear view of. If one could find
their way across the creek, I suspect a great view of both tiers is
available, and I suspect it would make for a great photograph. |

DIRECTIONS - Follow the directions to Isabel Falls. Shortly before the road ends, it sort of circles around a final hillside, getting as close to the creek as the road will get. You can actually hear the falls from here. Scramble down the hillside towards the creek. You'll likely come out slightly upstream of this waterfall, which occurs right above a 90 degree turn that the creek makes. |
