Crater Moraine Falls

Crater Moraine Falls is a pretty waterfall in the midst of a rugged, boulder filled canyon.  The creek begins its life high on the slopes of Mt. Baker near the Crater Moraine and eventually joins Boulder Creek at the base of Boulder Creek Falls.  Crater Moraine Falls occurs just upstream from the convergence of the two streams.  While Boulder Creek runs brown and dirty with glacier water, this stream is crystal clear and beautiful.  The waterfall drops a total of 116' feet including a 77' tall main plunge.  On the left side of the waterfall is an enormous rock slide that has filled the canyon in.  A number of dead trees also add to the general ugliness of the area.  Luckily, all this debris doesn't really hurt the scene any and helps to showcase the rugged nature of the area.  If you happen to find yourself at the base of Boulder Creek Falls and the creek is low enough to cross, it's a short and relatively easy trip up to this waterfall so don't miss it.

DIRECTIONS - From the base of Boulder Creek Falls, cross Boulder Creek where it exits the narrow canyon.  This can be quite dangerous at high water levels so be careful.  Once across, head upstream on the side creek.  Crater Moraine Falls is encountered in about 1/4 of a mile.
