On my visit to First Falls, the creek was at a very high volume and, as such, the falls were much more impressive than I had anticipated. The falls plunge over a large cliff face, dropping about 30' before spreading out and cascading another 10'. There appeared to be another tier above as well. You can see in the video below that the creek launches itself to the right above the main section. The falls were named because they are the first waterfall along the road. |
DIRECTIONS - Drive east of Granite Falls on the Mountain Loop Highway. Just
after the Turlo Campground, turn right onto 342 Dr NE and drive across the
bridge. Park at the pullout on the other side and walk past the
barricade about 300' east to a view of the falls from the old roadbed. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Heather Creek Falls, Triple Creek Falls, Upper Heather Creek Falls |
