This waterfall occurs on a branch of Ridley Creek in the area of Baker known as Mazama Park. The creek cascades for about 25' before spreading out and plunging 65' in height. The first time I saw this waterfall it had a lot more water than in these picture. The falls will be at their peak flow in mid-summer when the snow melting off Baker is highest. From the lookout the falls are difficult to see and hardly worth taking a picture of. From up close, it looks like this will be a very pretty waterfall when it is flowing heavily. I will attempt to revisit earlier in the summer next year. |
DIRECTIONS - Take the Park Butte trail from the end of FR 13. The falls can
be seen from the Park Butte Lookout from about a mile away. It is
possible to get closer views by taking the abandoned Baker Pass Trail and
then traveling off trail through the meadows to the falls. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Cravens Falls, Deming Glacier Falls, Easton Falls, Lower Portrait Falls Portrait Falls |
