Chocwich Creek drops over several waterfalls on its way to joining the Sauk River. Middle Chocwich Falls occurs just above the lower falls and is a beautiful 28' tall drop surrounded by ferns, small evergreen trees, mossy logs, and basically any other kind of greenery you can think of. While small in size, this is an extremely pretty area. Getting a good view involves a little bit of off-trail scrambling, but it's nothing too horrific. Wishbone Falls is located just upstream from this one, making three waterfalls in rapid succession. If someone wanted to call all three waterfalls one multi-tiered waterfall, I would have a hard time arguing against them. I chose to split the series up into three waterfalls because there is no way to see the three together and there are short, flat spaces between each. |
DIRECTIONS - The falls are located just off the Mountain Loop Highway. From
Lower Chocwich Falls, continue to follow the path uphill, staying towards
the left when it splits. The trail will end up on top of a small
ridge, passing an absolutely enormous tree in the process. Once above
the lower falls, the trail becomes very faint. Head over towards the
creek once you get above the falls and you should find this one just above
it. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Lower Chocwich Falls, Wishbone Falls |
