VR - 6.0 (Med) HR - 5.0 SR - 10/20 TYPE OF APPROACH - Trail DIFFICULTY - Medium LOCATION - Ross Lake Area TYPE - Horsetail HEIGHT - 117' WIDTH - 20' |
When the Ross Dam was completed, the course of Happy Creek was diverted to drop into the lake above the dam instead of below it. Happy Creek runs out of a hole in the cliff wall and drops over the side of the gorge directly into Ross Lake. The falls can actually vary greatly in height depending on the water level of the lake. When the lake is full the falls are 117' tall. While the falls are really nice, they kind of pale in comparison to the massive Ross Dam.

DIRECTIONS - Drive
east on Highway 20 and park at the Ross Dam Trailhead. Follow the trail past Cedar Hollow Falls to the service road and turn left.
Take the next right and walk over Ross Dam. Once across, follow the trail for
a few hundred feet until you get a clear view of Strandberg dropping into the opposite
side of the lake. Better views are had further along the trail. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Cedar Hollow Falls, Happy Creek Falls |
