BIG FIR FALLS |
|
RATING - 17.8 VR - 1.8 (Seasonal Small) HR - 2.0 SR - 14/20 TYPE OF APPROACH - Roadside DIFFICULTY - Very Easy LOCATION - Finney Creek Road TYPE - Tiered HEIGHT - 27' WIDTH - 8' |
This pretty little waterfall can be seen from Finney Creek Road. Closer looks are fairly easy to attain by scrambling down from the road to the creek. The falls are named after the creek, which in turn is named after a huge fir tree just down the road (see picture below). The main section of the falls drops 18' and there are 9' worth of cascades above that as well, bringing the total height to 27'. While not a very big waterfall, this one is easy to get to and is quite lovely. |
DIRECTIONS - Take Highway 20
east to Concrete and turn right onto Concrete-Sauk Road. Follow this road and turn
onto Finney Creek Road (FR 17). In 6 miles, the road turns from pavement to
gravel. Shortly after this, you will reach Big Fir Falls off to the right side of
the road in a little gully. You can climb down the hillside for a close up view
fairly easily. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Angel Falls, Devil Falls, Upper Washington Falls, Washington Falls |
