EMERALD GROTTO FALLS |
RATING - 28.0
|
While
Olney Creek has lost a lot of its volume by this point, the smaller stream
runs through a beautiful canyon at this point with at least three small
waterfalls in it. I was only able to view two of these three on my first
trip into the area. Emerald Grotto Falls is a stunning waterfall, dropping into a narrow grotto surrounded by moss-covered cliffs and a beautiful evergreen forest. A logjam downstream has created a beautiful locale with a perfect gravel bar leading up to the falls. While this is a small waterfall, it's among the prettiest I've ever seen. Above this location the canyon gets very steep, very deep, and very dangerous so I recommend turning around after taking your pictures here and heading back out the way you came as opposed to climbing further up the canyon. |

DIRECTIONS - From Golden
Pool Falls, scramble uphill on the left side of the creek. This
waterfall is located just a couple hundred feet upstream. You'll have
to do a little scrambling around, but if you've made it this far you'll be
fine. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Golden Pool Falls, Olney Valley Falls, Stickney Falls |
