HAWKINS LAKE FALLS |

RATING - 18.0
VR - 4 (M/Sm) HR - 3.0 SR - 6/20 TYPE OF APPROACH - Trail + Bushwhack DIFFICULTY - Very Difficult LOCATION - Segelsen Road (FR 18) TYPE - Horsetail HEIGHT - 50' WIDTH - 15' |
The waterfall on the outlet of Hawkins Lake is a beautiful, swooshing, s-shaped horsetail about 50' tall. Unfortunately, the way the canyon turns just down from the falls, the steep falls of the canyon, and the trees growing around the canyon make it extremely difficult to get any sort of view. All of this adds up to make this a waterfall you should not attempt to visit. If you are planning to visit Shelf Lake, it's worth the short climb over the ridge to see Hawkins Lake as well, but I would forget about this waterfall. |
DIRECTIONS -
Follow the directions to Shelf Lake Falls.
From the first view of the falls, scramble up the boulder field a little
towards the trees. You should evetually hit the old trail.
Follow it to the base of the boulder field heading up to Shelf Lake.
Just before the boulder, head left through the woods and down the hill to
Hawkins Lake. Head left along the lake to the outlet and then follow
it down a short distance. The falls are just downstream but getting a
clear view is dangerous and almost impossible. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Round Mountain Falls, Shelf Lake Falls |
