Sunset Falls is a really cool, very unique waterfall where the Skykomish River slides 104' at an angle of about 45 degrees into a massive pool that is bigger than some lakes I know. A railroad trestle runs over the top of the falls and if you're lucky enough you may spot a train running over the bridge. Mt. Index Road is privately maintained past the trailhead and additional traffic is not desired so it is recommended that you walk the last mile and a half of road. |
DIRECTIONS - Take
HWY 2 east from Everett. Turn right onto Mt. Index Road. Park at the Lake
Serene Trailhead and continue walking down the main road for about a mile and a half until
the falls can be seen. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Bridal Veil Falls, Eagle Falls, Klinger Grotto Falls |
