The lowest of the
falls on Standard Creek consists of two tiers. The lower tier drops about 20' into
a gorgeous pool surrounded by moss and fern-covered cliffs. About 100' upstream is
the upper tier which is around 35' tall and has a cool twist at the top. Getting a
view of this upper tier involves climbing up the steep hillside above the lower tier and
then dropping back down to the creek. The canyon around Standard Creek are very
steep so be extremely careful climbing around this area. It's a shame the landowner
is not allowing access to the falls because while small in stature, this is a very pretty
area. |
DIRECTIONS - I've
been asked to remove the directions to this falls. Apparently the first half mile of
the road that is walked along to access the falls is owned by a local homeowner and he
doesn't want anyone walking up it (only oil-dripping log trucks whose drivers like to
throw their garbage out the window). If I can find an alternate route that won't
involve crossing this guy's property I'll post those directions. NEARBY WATERFALLS - Hard Scrabble Falls, Middle Standard Falls, Potter Falls, Sygitowicz Falls, Tinling Falls, Upper Standard Falls, Van Zandt Falls |
